Personal Information

Please do not post personal and private information such as home and cell phone numbers, home addresses, and places of employment on your Profile page, your Comment Wall or Forums. These areas are visible to all members.

Unless you are in public sales or have a public position you may not want to use your full name. It is highly recommended that minors do not use their full name (They should use a nickname or initials).

If you see other members that you know, please be mindful that they may not have chosen to use their first and last name. For example if you know your cousin “John Doe”, but he is using his initials “J. D.”, please do not post his name anywhere on the website (use his initials).

If you are posting in a public area and know where someone lives and works, please do not make any references to these locations.

Membership

Anyone can join ValdostaConnect.com at not cost, but membership must be approved. The approval process does not include criminal background checks.

People who are not members can only view the front page of ValdostaConnect.com. They can’t view the member profile pages or any other area of the website.

The Power of Friendship

This social networking website has cool friend making tools. Whenever you add someone as your friend you are giving them privileges to possibly view your blogs, photos, music, and videos. Whenever you are using these tools you can choose who can see them so please keep this in mind before posting. Over time you may have many friends and may not want all of them to see all conversation, photos, music, videos, etc. The best way to have a one-on-one private communication is to send someone a message, or you can create a group and invite only your closest friends.

The Comment Wall

All members of ValdostaConnect.com can see comments on your profile page’s Comment Wall (this is the area with the cartoonish dialogue boxes). For private communication please use the message tool. You can also start your own group and invite your closest friends and family.

Members can select options to approve comments before they are posted on your Comment Wall. Go to your profile page and on the same row with the “Comment Wall” header, click the “Edit” button. This will open up options to approve comments before they are posted. However once a comment is posted to your wall, all of the members on the website will be able to see it (use the message tool for private, person to person, communication).

Photos and Blogs

Whenever you upload a photo or create a Blog you can select who sees it.
1) Everyone, 2) Just friends, or 3) Only you.
