We Are Not Duplicating MySpace

by Eric Jackson on February 1, 2009

I’m not being arrogant when I say that our goal is not to duplicate MySpace. Our mission is to unite everyone on the planet who has ever had a connection to Valdosta, Georgia; however, merely reconnecting friends is not the primary objective. Yes, all of us think that reuniting with our lost friends is great, but remember that we are also a business network. This doesn’t mean that we are trying to get everyone to start their own business. Many of us have great goals that we want to accomplish (that have nothing to do with starting a business). ValdostaConnect is a place for you to share your goals and the things that you are doing (not just with your friends), but with members who have similar goals.

Our member policy does not approve of someone spamming your profile page or sending you spam messages. Yet, if someone has reviewed your profile page, and genuinely asks you about what you are doing, why ignore them? Step out of your comfort zone and network with people that you don’t know. Also remember that good advice may not always be a glowing praise. There maybe someone one this site who has already accomplished the things that you are trying to do, so they may be trying to help you avoid the mistakes that they made.

Since many of us have reconnected with long lost friends, we definitely should pay attention to what they are doing. What better thing can friends do, than to be there for each other and help one another reach their goals. Networking is a key to success no matter whether you’re starting a business, trying to find a better job, looking for a good mechanic, or keeping up with local events and happenings.
